My workwear wishlist

The unpredictable weather calls for a staple, transeasonal wardrobe – one featuring covetable styles that are synonymous with effortless sophistication. My workwear wishlist epitomises this. From a leather biker jacket to nonchalantly layer over work styles, to point-toe suede heels that’ll lend a polished finish to looks, these pieces are endlessly versatile.

Red-y for work

Red is the colour of confidence. When worn to work, it immediately gives off a strong look that says, ‘I’m in charge; I’m a leader.’ It’s a bold choice, particularly for the office, which makes it that much more impactful. It also allows us to stand out in garments made from simple, minimal cuts because the adornment of colour is striking on its own. And it’s the perfect shade to transition from work to party. As the saying goes, ‘dress for the job you want’, and the colour red expresses a winning attitude. So whether, the tone of red we wear comes in the form of a blouse, pencil dress, heels, skirt, or a bag, a touch of it exudes passion, and is a simple way to exert confidence. Red was a big player at the SS16 shows, and it’s an even bigger player for our working wardrobes. Here are my top high-street picks (with the exception of the discounted Joseph dress) of red attire for the office:

Accessory edit: Skinny scarves

When I cast my mind back to the SS16 shows, I am reminded of how voguish the skinny scarves looked on the catwalk at Rodarte. Long, silky and worn with nonchalance. They were the perfect 70s style accessories to complement all the glamour that entered the stage. And this spring/summer, they can be worn to accent any look, from the most casual of outfits to extravagant partywear.

I wear my skinny scarves in the office, which is great for adding colour to my monochrome outfits. They also act as a stylish cover up to lower cleavage tops when needed. And so, I’ve created an edit of the skinny scarves that I’m loving right now. These include both designer and high-street finds. Talking of the latter, I have to express my undying love for the monochrome reversible check scarf by Jaeger. How gorgeous is it? It has such a luxe look, is modern and so wearable. I’d love to know your thoughts on this edit and what accessories you are all lusting over this season. 1048081_1.jpg
